Summer Sun & Fun at Han River Swimming Pools

Summer is officially here, and that means once again the swimming pools along the banks of the Han River are open for a splashing good time.

Actually, you will need to wait a little longer for the Ttukseom and Yeouido pools to open -- renovations will be finished and those pools reopened on July 25. Meanwhile the following three Han River Park pools are open:

Jamwon Swimming Pool has nice surrounding neighborhood with upscale cafes and shopping for a swim and a walk. From Sinsa Station, go out exit 5 and walk north toward the river. Or from Apgujeong Station, use exit 1 and walk north. Either way, about a 10 minute walk. Look for signs for Hangang River Park; signage for the river park entrances has been greatly improved, or watch where bicycle traffic is going.

Mangwon Swimming Pool is known for its adjacent campground. Take subway line 2 or 6 to Hapjeong Station. Then walk or take a take south toward the river. Bow at the Seoul Foreigner’s Cemetery when you pass.

Jamsil Outdoor Swimming Pool has been greatly remodeled in recent years. Don’t confuse it with the Jamsil Indoor Pool in Olympic Park which is a pool for competitive events. To get to Jamsil Outdoor Pool, go to Sincheon subway station, ext 7, and walk about 10 minutes.

Weather permitting the Han River Park swimming pools are open every day from 9 am to 8 pm, until the end of August
