「Seoul Grand Sale 2010」, the world's largest shopping festival participated by some 600 retailers stationed in Special Tourist Zone as well as 'Big20' which the customer's preferred giant franchise companies, is scheduled to be held during the period between July 21th and September 12th.

「Seoul Grand Sale 2010」is intended to promote the image of Seoul as the shopping tourism destination, to enhance the shopping tourism competitiveness of Seoul to reinvigorate our domestic tourism industry by maximizing the tourism spending among overseas as well as domestic tourists.

Key facts
About 600 retailers within the Special Tourism Zone went into bargain at once.

Seoul Metropolitan City and Seoul Tourism Orgarnization revealed that they would host the 「Seoul Grand Sale 2010」 for 54 days from July 21th until September 12th, where some 600 retailers in Special Tourist Zone that represents Seoul as well as ' Big20', the discount program conducted by popular large domestic franchise companies will provide discount sales at the same time.


Revitalize the tourism industry of Korea through increased consumption of local and foreigner tourists

「Seoul Grand Sale 2010」is intended to promote the image of Seoul as the shopping tourism destination, to enhance the shopping tourism competitiveness of Seoul to reinvigorate our domestic tourism industry by maximizing the tourism spending among overseas as well as domestic tourists. The same event held 2009 was participated by 810 shops from 516 retailers, up 100% from previous year, and accomplished the sales amounting to 10 billion won.


Opening ceremony and various promotional events on the streets to elevate the urban festive mood

In particular, this year's event will pick one particular district within the Sepcial Tourist Zone of Seoul Metropolitan City through careful evaluation, which will be used as a strong point of 「Seoul Grand Sale 2010」for a wide variety of events and promotions including opening ceremony and street events will be held to perk up the festive mood. In addition, the location-based mobile augment reality application will be developed and distributed so that anyone with a mobile phone is able to get easy access to the services provided by the participating businesses within the special zone.


Reinforce online promotion using social media

The 「Seoul Grand Sale 2010」 celebrating the third anniversary this year is seeking to reinforce online promotions using various social media such as Youtube and Twitter as it did in 2009 while producing and distributing the 'Big20 Membership Card' and issuing mobile coupons as wee to enhance customer participation and convenience of use by selecting 20 major businesses favored by customers.


Offer diverse benefits to more customers and work positively to attract foreign tourists

In addition, in celebration of 'Visit Korea Year 2010', the hosting of the event twice a year in summer and winter is under review through enhanced collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Visit Korea Committee which is expected to provide more customers with rich discount benefits while contributing to attracting foreign tourists as well.

Seoul Metropolitan City and Seoul Tourism Organization anticipate that this event will provide a variety of special discounts for foreign as well as domestic customers and to serve as an opportunity for particating businesses to promote corporate awareness and revenues during low season while reinvigorating domestic demand and tourism industry.
